PROVISIONAL BALLOTS REJECTED TWO-THIRDS OF THE TIME

The Tallahassee Democrat has done an analysis of reports submitted by the state's 67 county supervisors of elections, and it shows that two-thirds of the 27,451 provisional ballots submitted in the November election were rejected.

The vast majority of provisional ballots which were tossed aside were because the voter was not registered in that county. Over 11 percent were rejected because the voter was in the wrong precinct, and 7.2 percent were because the voter had been purged from the rolls because the voter had been either identified as a felon or because he/she had not voted in the last two federal elections (Most counties did not made a distinction between the identified felons from inactive voters, but of the 20 counties which did, purged felons accounted for four percent with inactive voters being 7.3 percent).

Surprisingly, the number of provisional ballots cast in Florida is quite small when compared to other states. California reported 439,969 provisional ballots cast, while Arizona had over 200,000 and Ohio reported 155,539.
